雲林之光許淑淨，參加里約奧運的女子舉重五十三公斤級奪得金牌，為台灣奪下本屆賽事第一面金牌，也是首位獲得兩面奧運金牌的台灣人，縣長李進勇與教育處長邱孝文、新聞處長陳膺仁、崙背國中校長曾麗珠等人一早九時許就到許淑淨位於崙背的老家，張貼紅榜恭賀，各界恭賀紅榜貼滿許家牆面，許媽媽也秀出許淑淨奪得佳績後line給家人的訊息，大家都為許淑淨奪得金牌興奮不已。

縣長李進勇表示，許淑淨奪牌是眾人都非常期待的事情，賽前蔡英文總統也特別公開呼籲全體國人共同集氣，許淑淨果然不負眾望，在今日凌晨奪得奧運舉重金牌，也是台灣運動史上首見連續兩屆奪得金牌，不僅是台灣之光，雲林鄉親也非常興奮。
